How to Take Sports Pictures

how to take sports pictures

Hey guys,  today I want to show you this photo of my brother. I took it in Copenhagen while the golden hour. I hope you guys will like it.:)

Technical Camera Stuff:

Before we started taking pictures I made sure that I have enough light, iso and the right aperture to be able to have a shutter time like 1/2000 sec. so I wouldn’t get any motion blur from my brother’s fast movements. You don’t absolutely got to have a 1/2000 shutter speed. It really depends on how fast the subject/object moves but usually I use at least 1/640 sec. for moving things.

Perspective Stuff:

  1. To get the shot looking balanced me and my brother went to the exact middle of the area we were in. So all the lines in the middle left and right all point torwards the middle section where my brother was jumping.
  2. I was laying 1.60m in front of him to get an unusual angle and make the photo more apealing.

Light Stuff:

Like I said above I took the photo in the golden hour to have the light coming more from the side to have some kind of a light and shadow play as well as the sunset vibe to it.

Stuff I Used:

  • Camera: Canon 77D
  • Lens: 18-55mm canon kit lens
  • Shutter: 1/2000
  • Aperture: f/7.1
  • Iso: 400

I hope you will have fun creating your own image from that information. If you have any questions or opinions feel free to ask me in the comments. 🙂

Cheers

Aaron.
